Long Natural Black Hairstyle with Hair Color from Deirdre Clay

Salon: Wave Links Hair Studio Inc.
Stylist: Deirdre Clay
Model: Christina
Make Up: Deirdre Clay

My name is Deirdre Clay and I am the owner of Wave Links Hair Studio Inc. in Fayetteville, NC. I created the black hairstyle in this article. Christina’s hair is natural so I shampooed her with Influence’s Its Natural Shampoo and then followed up with Influance’s Organic Conditioner. After we let the conditioner sit for five minutes, we rinsed it out and sprayed some Influance Leave in Conditioner on the hair and combed it through.  Next, we took a clean white towel and wrapped it around Christine’s hair and used a plastic cap to lock in moisture. We took Christina and put her under a hot dryer for 15 minutes, making our own steam cap.  After taking her out from under the dryer, her natural hair will soften and be ready to blow out with a blow dryer and a Deman brush to give it body and movement.  Before beginning to blow her out we sprayed some Influance S 3 shine spray to give a protecting coating to the hair and add shine.  When her hair became totally dry, I began to use a ceramic flat iron at the temperature of about 375 degrees taking small sections going through her hair and flat ironing it out.  With each section, if I felt as if it needed a little bit more shine or protection, I will spray some of the influence S3 spray section by section.  For a little extra added fullness in Christina’s hair we used the hair addition technique of bonding tracks in not to create length but create thickness. Christina wanted more of a flowing look so we just flat ironed her hair straight and did not give her any curls. This hairstyle can be curled under or you can give your model a feathered look by using your curling iron or flat iron.
