Deirdre-ClayDeirdre “Dee” Clay graduated in 1984 from Sir Walters Beauty Academy in Fayetteville NC. Believing that education is the key to advancement in her profession, Dee was recognized by the North Carolina State Beauticians and Cosmetologist Association as the “Top Educator of North Carolina,” in 2001. As a component for continued education, Dee strives to accelerate her skills level by taking advance classes from schools such as Toni & Guy Hair Cutting Academy, Sassoon Academy, Dudley Cosmetology University, Matrix Color Class, Paul Mitchell, IMYB Makeup, Surface Haircutting, and Pivot Point.

Dee is a professional Cosmetologist with 30 years of experience in the field of Cosmetology and 15 years as an instructor. As a practicing stylist and makeup artist, Dee’s work has been featured in a Dudley and Influance Products haircut, color, and, styling DVD’s, as well as publications such as Salon Sense, Universal Salons Hair Styles, Sophisticate’s Black Hair Styles, Dudley’s Hair Images Volume 10, Hot Hair, Black Hair-Styles and Trends, Hype Hair, and Black Haircare.

Dee produced the hairstyle for the lead model in the music video “Power Trip” by Rap Artist JCole. Her work in color was featured in the special multicultural color edition of the trade magazine Modern Salon called “Process”. The following year Modern Salon published her article on “How to keep relaxed and color-treated hair healthy” in their regular monthly edition. Along with her many accomplishments, Dee has been the owner of Wave Links Hair Studio Inc located in Fayetteville NC for 20years.

A Professional Hair Care Colorist

Known as a color specialist and for her makeup artistry, Dee had been a Dudley Product International Education since 1993. She is one of the developers of the Master Cutting Program was taught at Dudley Cosmetology University. Dee was one of the four members of the Artist Design Team. She was instrumental in providing opportunities for advance education to many cosmetologists throughout the United States. Deirdre Clay trained professional hairstylists in other countries such as the Bahamas, Martinique, Guadalupe, Japan, Guam, Korea, the Hawaiian Islands, and Australia.

Dee works with UniversalSalons.Com as a Makeup Artist, and on the National Educational Team for Influance Hair Care Products. Dee believes that “Each one must reach one and teach one”. She maintains a level of professionalism that she hopes will be an example for upcoming and current cosmetologists.
