No matter what grade of hair you have, long luxurious looks have always been a staple in many individuals’ style libraries. In this image, Denise Granberry from Global Tresses Hair Salon in Spring Lake, NC demonstrates how you can bring your long style to life with a few dramatic curls. Below are instructions on how you can recreate this look on your own.

What You’ll Need:

Shampoo, Conditioner, Setting Lotion, Hooded Dryer, Fine tooth comb, Marcel Irons, Styling Gel and Light Oil

Step 1: Shampoo and condition

Shampoo and condition your hair. The conditioner will help to ensure that your hair is easier to detangle. For a smooth result, make sure your hair is free of knots and that your fine tooth comb can easily pass through.

Step 2: Apply setting lotion

Apply setting lotion to your hair. Make sure to evenly distribute it through the hair so that it dries properly. It’s important to note that adding to much will only weigh the hair down and it will take much longer to dry.

Step 3: Comb Hair

If you would like a side part, you should part it before sitting beneath the dryer. Make sure that the hair is completely straight and that it is free of tangles. Lightly towel dry the ends so as to remove excess moisture.

Step 4: Sit Beneath Hooded Dryer
Sit beneath your hooded dryer for an hour to and hour and a half, depending on the length of your hair. Make sure to keep your hair as straight possible as you allow it to dry and avoid any unnecessary manipulation as this will effect how it sets.

Step 5: Comb hair

When the hair is dry, comb it out with a fine tooth comb. Add light oil to the hair so as to create a sheen for you finished result.

Step 6: Curl Your Hair
Hold a strand of hair at its end and then wrap it around the barrel of your marcel iron, starting at the base. Keep the strand flat in order to create more voluminous curls. If you would like more oftight and spiral look, then twist the strand before wrapping it around the marcel barrel. Note:You should be careful to always curl hair away from your face.

Step 7: Style

Finger comb your curls. Use your fingers to separate your curls. The more time you take to separate, the more volume you will be able to achieve. Avoid using combs because this will give you more of a wavy look. You should also add a little style gel to your part to make sure your hair remains secure.

Long, curly styles can add a very soft and feminine touch. And luckily there are many more black hairstyles for womenthat can give you this very same look. However, if you are short on time or simply don’t have the patience and skill to do it yourself, then why not leave it all to the professionals?
