There’s a lot that can be done with natural hair, especially when it’s thick and long. In this image, Terresa Murray Barnes of Hair Explosion in Panama City, FL executes a perfect natural hair twist out. And luckily, this is one of the many black hairstyles you can do on your own.

What’s Needed?

Conditioner Clips

Wide-toothed comb

Rat tail comb

Oil Styling gel

Step 1: Shampoo and condition

Clean and conditioned can better absorb products. If your natural hair has too much product build-up, it easily goes limp styles, has slow drying times and a lot of flaking.

Step 2: Moisturize

Add your “go-to” oil to the hair so that it can retain as much moisture as possible. This will make it easier to comb through and also give your hair a more fresh and healthy appearance.

Step 3: Detangle

Use your wide-toothed comb to remove knots and tangles from your hair. This will make it more manageable as you create sections for your twists.

Step 4: Create Sections

Divide your hair into sections. Keep in mind that the bigger your sections, the larger and less defined your coils will be. However, if the sections are too small, you may not have as much volume. As you separate your section, secure each end with a clip.

Step 5: Create Twists

Create two strand twists. Make sure the twists are tight, but not so tight that they’ll be difficult to take down after drying.

Step 7: Take Down Twists

After allowing the hair to air dry completely, unravel the twists.

Even if you don’t have the length for this style, you can always consider adding hair extensions. If you are on the lookout for great Panama City FL hair salons and want to work with stylists like Terresa, then contact her at Hair Explosions at (850) 763-0883.
