We love the carefree look of long loose curls. There is something about a look that gives the impression that it, “accidentally” falls perfectly in place. That’s exactly what we have in this long natural braid out hairstyle. The loose curls that flow throughout the style were created using a braid out technique also. Deirdre Clay, a professional hairstylist from Fayetteville, NC, braided the hair while it was wet. She then pulled the braids apart once the hairstyle dried completely to create this natural braid out hairstyle. Dee, as Deirdre is affectionately known, also created a knotted pattern along the left side of her model’s hair.
A Natural Braid Out Hairstyle with Loose Curls
The main focal point of this look is the beautiful loose curls throughout the hairstyle. The curls were created by applying a braid out technique on the model’s natural hair also. Deirdre Clay didn’t need to apply any hair additions to create this look. A braid out technique braids the model’s hair while it is still wet. After the hair is completely dry, Dee takes the braids apart using her fingers. To achieve this natural braid out hairstyle, Dee created two large braids on each side of her model’s head also. After allowing her model to dry, Dee used a shine serum on the hair as she was pulling it apart. This gives the hair a gloss that makes the curls more defined also. She used a silicone-based shine product so she wouldn’t weigh down the hair.
On the right side of this natural braid out hairstyle, Dee used a knotting technique to create a chain link design that runs from the model’s temple to the top of her head also. This tight lock design creates a dramatic contrast to the loose curls that flow everywhere else in the style.
Taking Care of This Natural Braid Out Hairstyle at Home
Deirdre Clay created this hairstyle to look carefree. The simple at-home maintenance program she created to keep this hairstyle looking salon fresh is basically carefree also. You simply need to re-braid the hair at night and pull it apart again in the mornings. Dee says you could double strand twist the hair at night, rather than braid it if that was easier for you. Either way, just pull the hair apart in the mornings using a moisturizer like Influance’s Moisture Lock with Shea Butter. You should also use a silicone-based shine product on this natural braid out hairstyle also. Dee recommends the Influance S3 Serum and she also suggests a product like Influance’s Glaze Edges to keep the small hair around your hairline in place.
